MERV rating is used to measure the performance of hvac filters
MERV rating is an industry-standard method of evaluating the filtration performance of HVAC filters. It is based on a standard set by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). The standard establishes minimum particle sizes that a filter must catch in order to achieve a specific MERV rating. Higher MERV ratings provide better filtration.
